In our clinic we give priority to the trust and tranquility of the patient, working on the safety of our services and comforts in our attention, for this reason our team of specialists took on the responsible task of answering some questions that usually arise very frequently:

  1. With which technique are results seen faster (invisible or basic orthodontics)?
Invisible orthodontics: It is a system that aims to eliminate the use of brackets, replacing them with transparent aligners, which progressively change the shape of the mouth, with results every 14 days that allow us to perform a comfortable and aesthetic treatment.

Basic Orthodontics: better known as brackets, basic orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry that deals with the correction of incorrectly positioned teeth and bones.

With any type of orthodontics, whether basic or invisible, the treatment times are usually very similar, we are talking about a treatment that on average can rotate between 18 to 24 months, all depending on the planning made by the orthodontist and the follow-up that the patient wears.

But generally, self-ligation technology is the one with which faster results can be seen, which is why there is no faster technique than another, but there may be some that are more comfortable and aesthetically attractive than others.

  2. For which cases do they suggest basic orthodontics and for which cases do they suggest invisible orthodontics? Both seek the same goal, although the path they travel is different. Our teams of certified dentists must make an individual and specialized diagnosis, after that process we can decide which is more appropriate for the needs of the patient.
  3. At the end of the orthodontic treatment, what do you consider to be the most effective? fixed retainers or non-fixed retainers (invisible and basic)It is important to highlight the importance of using retainers at the end of this type of treatment, because if they are not used or applied incorrectly, the time spent on fixing your smile may have been completely lost.

Specifically, on the question, everything depends on the case and the hygiene that the patient has, sometimes they are even sent fixed and removable at the same time. But it is always essential to use them.

  4. Stages or phases of orthodontics

All types of orthodontic treatment contain a process from the first moment you go to the dentist and at the end when the dental problem of any patient has been solved. Next, we will see 7 phases of this process and information about what each one consists of. When we talk about phases in orthodontics, we refer to the set of movements in the teeth that are carried out to improve the aesthetics, chewing and function of your mouth.

      • Phase 1: we refer to the orthodontic study to determine an exact diagnosis and thus be able to develop a treatment plan. It is worth highlighting the importance of professional planning, so that the patient obtains the desired results.
      • Phase 2: is the alignment and leveling process where the objective is to modify the discrepancies and dental crowding, for which light forces are used.
Similarly, in this phase, actions aimed at correcting the crossbite in the teeth and pulling those teeth that have not erupted are also carried out, everything depends on the needs of the person. This stage can last from 6 to 8 months.
      • Phase 3: the bite and molar relationship, the occlusion or bite are corrected and the teeth begin to fit into their correct position in the anteroposterior and vertical direction. Sometimes it is necessary to use external forces such as elastic or rubber bands to correct the bite.
      • Phase 4: is the phase where the spaces between the teeth must be closed after everything has been placed and aligned.
      • Phase 5: at the beginning of the finishing and finishing period, the teeth must be aligned, the bite correct and all the spaces closed, in this phase refinement adjustments will be carried out such as: equalizing the roots, adapting the individual dental positions, correcting discrepancies, among others.
      • Phase 6: Once the orthodontist considers that all the objectives have been achieved, the appliances are removed from the mouth and the retention phase proceeds.
      • Phase 7: Did you know that teeth have memory? Therefore, to maintain the results that were obtained and prevent them from returning to the way they were before the process, it is extremely important to place retainers in the upper and lower arches, adding transparent covers (splints) that the patient must wear for the necessary time. .
  5. Importance of orthodonticsThe importance of orthodontics is to allow the patient to have a healthy mouth, a pleasant smile, a facial appearance not conditioned by dental or maxillary variations.
Finally, and to conclude, teeth with a high probability of lasting a long life if cared for correctly.
